The Records of the Great Plains Agricultural Council consists of documents dated 1938-1996. The collection includes correspondence, committee reports, minutes and publications. A complete run of proceedings of the annual meetings is included, as are various other publications from conferences and research supported by the Council and its committees, including those dealing with such topics as water, wildlife, range and livestock management, range plants, drought, evapotranspiration, irrigation, and the Russian wheat aphid.

The Great Plains Agricultural Council was founded in 1946, merging the earlier Northern Great Plains Regional Agricultural Council (1938) and the Southern Great Plains Regional Agricultural Council (1939).
